Meet the Creme de la Cakes team!
 

Creme de la Cakes was founded by Ashlee Henry, a passionate, self-taught cake maker from Ferntree Gully.

What started as a hobby soon became Ashlee’s dream career. Orders for her delicious creations came flooding in, and she quickly became the cake lady of choice for her loyal group of clients.

The business has now grown to a dedicated team of cake lovers who are committed to bringing you sweet treats that are as delicious as they are beautiful. Michelle Atkinson brings her creative talent to the kitchen, and Kathleen Savanah showcases our creations on social media.

Role: Owner, decorator, lover of all things cake (and ice cream, and cookies, and everything dessert).+

What is a typical CDLC week like for you? Go-go-go! Day time in the kitchen, night time doing emails and bookwork and weekends doing deliveries. The cake action never ends.

Favourite CDLC flavour: Chocolate Mud Cake offcuts are my favourite, heated up in the microwave with gooey chocolate ganache, strawberries and ice cream. Oh gosh, excuse me while I go and find some cake.. 

What’s your cake style? I'm a big lover of all things bridal - ruffles, lace and soft florals. When it comes to the size of the cake, the bigger the better! I just love the impact of a 6 or 7 tier showstopper. I live for big cakes like that!

What’s your favourite thing about working at CDLC? I love the flexibility of working for myself, but mostly I love doing something that never feels like a job (even though I work more hours than ever before!). I've done all sorts of jobs in the past (I've worked in retail, finance and even been a qualified myotherapist), but I've finally found something that I get excited about every single day. My other favourite thing is my team! I never dreamed that CDLC would grow so much that i would need staff, but here we are and I think I have the best damn team out there. I wonder how I ever did this without them!

Outside of work I…  My current work-life balance doesn't allow for much outside of work, but Mr Creme de la Cakes and I are keen renovators and have spent the past 4 years working on turning our house into the perfect home. We still have loads to do, but we just love the way its all coming together. 

Furbabies: My dogs are my life! We have two Hungarian Vizslas - Jaffa (3) & Ziggy (2). Vizslas are known as 'velcro' dogs, and when you meet them its easy to see why. They are crazy and lazy all rolled into one.

Role: Kitchen Assistant 

What is a typical CDLC week like for you? No two days are ever the same! Between baking yummy cakes, ganaching them and decorating them there is always something different happening each day!

Favourite CDLC flavour: Citrus 

What’s your cake style? I love a tall cake with all the trimmings and always fresh flowers. I'm currently loving marble look on cakes too. 

What’s your favourite thing about working at CDLC? That I get to help create beautiful cakes for beautiful occasions amongst an awesome team! I love it at the end of the week when all of the cakes are finished and sitting together looking incredible, each ready to go to their celebration. 

Outside of work I… enjoy trying out new restaurants with friends and taking my dogs to the park.

Kathleen Savanah

Role: Social Media & Online Manager

What is a typical CDLC week like for you? My woeful food prep skills keep me out of the kitchen & into all things online. I manage our social media platforms & website, and I’m also an extra pair of hands when the girls need help with admin, Bubbles & Bites packing (my fave!) or making ruffles (my one & only cake skill!) at HQ. 
I look forward to the end of the week when I receive all of the beautiful cake pictures to work with! I usually only get to see the beginning stages of the cakes, so it’s always a fun surprise to see what the girls have been working on!

Favourite CDLC flavour: Vanilla Bean & Citrus (as if I could choose only one!)

What's your cake style? I love anything with fresh flowers (peonies, please), drip, marble, gold leaf, pink, ruffles - anything girly, but not too traditional.

What's your favourite thing about working at CDLC? Our team is awesome, I’m so blessed to work with two extremely hardworking, creative & kind people. I also work predominantly from home, which has allowed me to have a great work/life balance.

Outside of work I… am an aspiring writer, avid reader, shopping addict & brunch enthusiast.

Furbabies: Miss Dolly Parton-Savanah is my darling little Pomchi. Her hobbies include being sassy, going brunching & getting dolled up (pun intended) in one of her many cute ensembles.
