The coveted Birthday Cake is often the centrepiece of any party! Here’s our tips on how to choose the perfect one.
How do I know what size cake I will need?
There’s a few things to consider when choosing the size of your cake. Will the cake be served in a casual, finger food fashion or will it be a sit down course? Our cake sizes are measured by the number of tea & coffee (finger food) or dessert (main dessert course) portions they serve.
Refer to our handy guide below for size suggestions:
6”dia. x 6” tall cake = 20 tea & coffee serves or 10 dessert serves
7”dia. x 6” tall cake = 30 tea & coffee serves or 15 dessert serves
8”dia. x 6” tall cake = 40 tea & coffee serves or 20 dessert serves
9”dia. x 6” tall cake = 50 tea & coffee serves of 25 dessert serves
7”dia. x 9” tall cake = 50 tea & coffee serves or 25 dessert serves
8”dia x 9” tall cake = 60 tea & coffee serves or 30 dessert serves
9”dia x 9” tall cake = 75 tea & coffee serves or 35 dessert serves
Help! I’ve never ordered a cake before, how do I choose a design?
The cake is often the centrepiece of any celebration, so equally as important as taste is how good the cake LOOKS! Things to consider when choosing a design include the tastes and style of the Birthday Person, the decorations you’re using in the room where the event will be held and other design elements such as party invitations or even the outfit of the Birthday Person!
We have a range of pre-designed cakes on our Online Bakeshop to make the process that little bit easier for you, but we also welcome custom cake orders if you have your own thoughts on how it should look. For custom orders, you can email us at email@example.com
All the flavours look so good, how do I choose?
A birthday cake is something that should be enjoyed by all of your guests, but it can definitely be hard to please everyone! We suggest checking out our flavour list here as a starting point.
Our crowd favourites are:
White Chocolate & Raspberry
White Chocolate & Salted Caramel
Chocolate Mud Cake
But if you’re looking for something a little different to the norm, why not try our Citrus Mud Cake or White Chocolate & Peanut Butter?!
Take into consideration the likes or dislikes of the Birthday Boy or Girl, after all, you are buying this cake for them! Its also worth considering if you have a large number of Gluten Intolerant guests, as all of our flavours (except for Red Velvet) can be adapted to Gluten Free. Likewise, don’t go choosing the Peanut Butter flavour if you’ve got guests who are allergic to nuts!
Alternatively, if you’re looking for a cake that is extra delicious and filled with lots of yummy additions, checkout our Gourmet Cakes range.
If you would prefer to let your taste buds decide, you can ordere a Tasting Box here!
How do I pickup my cake?
Your cake will be available for pickup either the day of or the day before your event. If you have ordered a cake decorated with fresh flowers, we recommend picking up your cake on the day of your event so that the flowers can be placed fresh on the day.
If you pickup your cake the day before your event, please keep all buttercream cakes in the fridge overnight and all fondant cakes in a cool place out of the fridge overnight. The cake is best eaten at room temperature, so if you do store it in the fridge, we recommend taking it out at least 2-3 hours before serving.
When it comes to transporting your cake, there is nothing to be afraid of! We will help you load your cake into the car and give you tips for transporting and moving the cake.
As all of our cakes have a mud cake base, they have a shelf life of 1 week. After the party if you have leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge and continue to enjoy for the rest of the week. If you would like to keep your cake for longer, cut it up into smaller pieces, wrap in 2 layers of cling film and freeze and you can keep the cake for months!
