One of the most commonly asked questions we receive from clients regarding their wedding cake is “how tall will it be?” As there is no industry standard, please find below our cake sizes and the terminology we use to describe tier height.
We use two tier sizes at Creme de la Cakes; standard and extended.
Our standard tier height is approximately 5-6” tall. It is made of 4 layers of cake sandwiched together with ganache. A standard height tier is usually cut into two layers when serving.
Our extended tier height is 8-9” tall. It is made of 6 layers of cake sandwiched together with ganache. Please note that due to the size of an extended tier, internal supports are used to stabilise your cake. An extended height tier is usually cut into three layers when serving.
It is possible to mix standard and extended tier sizes to create a different look, as seen in the beautiful wedding cake below.
